Description

Located in Alton, Illinois, Output Unlimited is a full-service AV solutions company, handling sales and rentals as well as system design and integration. During the pandemic, the company increased its focus on installations, especially in schools and houses of worship. Their go-to pro-audio brands for these projects are Electro-Voice and Dynacord.

“With the restrictions on festivals and live events, we’re very thankful to be installing new systems for regional customers,” says Tracy Bodenbach, company president. “We love the fact that EV and Dynacord not only provide outstanding products, but also offer the in-house design support to validate our system specifications in line with the customer’s budget and performance requirements. This means we can deliver consistently outstanding results.”

Another angle Bodenbach appreciates about working with Electro-Voice and Dynacord is the breadth of their portfolios, and how well the products work together, regardless of the project. “Whether it’s high intelligibility and even coverage for an outdoor stadium, or high fidelity and user-friendly control for a house of worship, there’s an EV and Dynacord solution to fit the bill,” he explains. “Not only do they offer speakers and electronics for virtually any application, but they are all sonically compatible. At Maryville Christian High School, for example, we designed different EV systems for the new commons area and gymnasium, and they really do share a sound signature across the two very different spaces.”

The commons area at Maryville, a large open space for lunch and socializing, is served by a distribution of 12 EVID P6.2W 6.5” two-way pendant speakers powered by a single Dynacord C1300FDi amplifier. The gymnasium features ceiling-mounted EVF1122D/96 full-range 12” two-way loudspeakers in rows of three to serve the bleachers on either side, plus a down-firing center row to cover the basketball court itself. Six double-15” EVF-2151D subwoofers augment the system, driven by Dynacord IPX5:4 DSP amplifiers. Dynacord electronics are equipped with performance-optimizing presets for EV loudspeaker models, and the results speak for themselves: “The quality of sound that Output Unlimited provided far surpassed my expectations,” says school administrator Chad Laughlin.

An additional project that shows how the comprehensive Electro-Voice portfolio can provide solutions that balance specific performance and budget requirements is the fully weatherized sound system at Cahokia High School’s football field, which covers seating on both sides of the field with just three EV loudspeakers: two Sx600PIX dual-12” two-way loudspeakers for the bleachers with one Sx300PIX 12” two-way for the concessions area, all strategically mounted on a single pole. These are fortified with EVF-2151D subwoofers under the stands, all powered by Dynacord C series amplifiers.

“When I heard the final system, I was blown away,” say Alan Holtgrewe, Instructional Coach/ Technologist for Cahokia High School. “That single-pole EV system disperses some of the cleanest, most well-balanced and intelligible sound I have heard in stadium systems.” For Output Unlimited, it’s all in a day’s work. “For us, the focus is always on satisfying our customers,” notes Bodenbach. “They’re the ones trusting us to deliver the sound quality they need at a price they can afford. One thing I love about EV and Dynacord is that, no matter what kind of facility it is, they have the products and commitment to make it sound great. That’s why I work with them so often.”
