The AURA 10 from Xeos is the world’s first high-resolution PET-CT specimen imager for the Operating Room (OR). The Belgian medtech company Xeos has made it its mission to enable surgical oncologists to operate with more clarity and thus help patients to recover more easily. In surgical oncology, such as breast conserving surgery, rapid verification of the excised specimen is of utmost importance. When surgeons have a clear view on the surgical margins of a breast tissue specimen, they can be more confident that resurgery for their patients can be avoided.
Molecular imaging and whole-body PET-CT scanners have been the standard for diagnosis and follow up of cancers for years, because this technology provides unparalleled sensitivity for the detection and localization of malignant cells. The AURA 10 mobile specimen imager brings PET sensitivity and clarity to the OR within 10 minutes after excision. Thanks to this technology, workflow interruptions are reduced, because the specimen does not have to be physically transported to the radiology department for further review. Instead, it can instantly be reviewed by the right imaging specialist via a PACS system, which saves a significant amount of procedure time.
High-resolution specimen images
Specimen images acquired by the AURA 10 scanner are displayed on a Barco Eonis 21” display which can be tilted and swiveled, and which is fully integrated into the system. The display presents high-resolution 3D PET-CT images, which offers surgeons a reliable reference from any viewing angle. The user-friendly system interface displayed on the Barco monitor also enables surgeons to set up the image acquisition, obtain the required views with little image manipulation and upload the images to the PACS for further inspection by a medical imaging specialist.
When looking for the right display technology for their AURA 10 system, Xeos wanted to obtain the best possible grayscale and color performance for their PET-CT images, so that surgeons were able to see the microcalcifications and radiotracer uptake of the target lesion in the best imaging quality possible. And next to having all required medical certifications for use in the OR, the display also needed a slick design and a form factor that perfectly fitted the design of the AURA 10 device.
After thorough usability tests with surgical specialists, the Barco Eonis 21” review monitor came out as the best solution for the AURA 10 system.

A graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology, Doug has been in the Technology industry since 1976 and actively oversees Fearing’s daily operations. Along with his wife, Lois, and three others, Doug started Fearing’s in a 600 square-foot facility in Portage, Wisconsin. In the 25 years since, the company has grown to over 30 employees with offices in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Doug likes to say he’s a “TV Technician with a dream� going back to his history with the family’s original business-Fearing’s TV and Appliance.
Doug values time with family, watersports, hiking, snowshoeing and skiing. In addition to being a devoted member of his church, Doug serves as Board President for Kinship Mentoring of Columbia County, Board member of Schools for Haiti and Scripture Chair of the Gideons-Portage camp.
A graduate of MATC, Lois oversees Fearing’s daily book keeping along with various HR responsibilities.
Along with Doug, Lois is deeply connected to community outreach, serving as a Board member and Fundraising Committee Chairperson for Kinship Mentoring of Columbia County. She also serves on the Schools for Haiti Fundraising committee. In addition, Lois’ ongoing passion and commitment to provide care for the elderly comes from her 10-year history of working in a Reedsburg, Wisconsin Nursing home.
Lois enjoys singing, hiking, sunny days on the pontoon, and spending time with her 4 grandchildren.
Ehren drives Fearing’s technology by continually seeking out trends to enhance capabilities while supporting Sales, Engineering and Installation teams. Throughout his years with Fearing’s, Ehren’s talent and vision have joined forces to create a wide variety of projects and strategic solutions that exceed expectation.

With 10 years with Fearing’s and over twice that long in the industry, Ben continues to lead, coordinate, and develop the Commercial AV team.

Married for 19 years with 3 children, Chris enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing, boating, hunting, camping and golf. He’s also been actively involved as a Youth Football and Softball coach for his family and others.
